Have a topic you’d like to discuss? An activity you’d like to share with others? Or do you want to help build relationships with others? You have what it takes to lead a group!
While Sunday mornings are important and powerful, the community we live with throughout the week keeps us grounded. As a group leader, you’ll create space for people – whether that’s new parents, young adults, singles, or any other group you’re led to reach – to grow their faith and support one another. You don’t need all the answers; you just need to be willing and have a heart for community.
As a Legacy Group leader, you’ll help people build real connections and find “their people.” We have the privilege of enfolding people into a family.
You’ll inspire people to grow in their relationship with Jesus and create a space that encourages them to take steps in their faith.
You’re just three steps away from starting your group.
Decide what kind of group you want to lead and fill out a short form telling us all about it!
We will reach out to set up a time to talk about your group. We’ll help you brainstorm and settle on your structure, and then provide training and resources to get you started.
That’s it! You can then prepare for your group to launch as we help you promote it! Start telling people about your group, where to sign up, and be ready to facilitate growth in community!
As a leader, you create the group that fits your passion, your gifting, and this season of your life.
Lead conversations that matter to your group. Whether you want a group that’s primarily focused on building relationships around a shared interest, or a group that goes through a book, Bible Study, or video series that has been impactful for you, you have tons of options. No matter what you choose, you’ll be equipped to guide people to deeper connections with God and each other.
We know life can get busy. That’s why you get to decide what day, time, and how often your group meets. Whether you opt for weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly rhythms – it’s your call. Whether it lasts 4 weeks, or 4 months, be clear with your schedule so people know what they’re committing to. No matter what schedule you go with for your group, we encourage you to be as consistent as possible. The more you continue to see each other, the more you’ll be able to support one another and grow in faith together.
Host your group in a place that feels right for you. You can choose your home, a local coffee shop, an online space, or a similar spot. The key to picking a great location for your group is creating a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable to be themselves. Consider things like safety, size, budget, parking, convenience, and access to amenities like Wi-Fi and restrooms. It’s not about having the biggest or coolest space — it’s about the sense of belonging you create.

Groups can be valuable at a variety of sizes. Jesus had 12 disciples. He also had his inner circle of 3 disciples. Consider how many people you are comfortable hosting and think about setting a cap on how many people can join. But we also encourage you to be consistent with your group even if you have 3 or 4 people. Sometimes smaller groups form the deepest bonds.
Even if you’d like your group to continue after the current season, it’s valuable to help people know what they’re committing to. People in your group can then choose to re-up their commitment for the next season if they would like, but an end date also gives them permission to move on to a different group or take a new step in their faith.
An end date also allows you to set a new start date for your next season, so that new people will be more inclined to want to join your group.
Human beings are seasonal beings. We live and operate within seasons. There is value in leading a group for 4 weeks as a “sprint” of sorts, and there is value in leading a group that lasts the equivalent of a school semester. Whatever you determine is right for your topic and focus, as well as the people in your group, make sure you approach it in seasons so that people are able to fully know what they’re committing to for that season.
It’s okay not to know! We would love to talk with you, dream with you, pray with you, and discern with you. You’re not in this alone.
We believe God can use even the darkest parts of our past to help someone else in their pursuit of Christ. Let’s have a conversation and talk about God’s work in your life.
